Since you believe so fully in a woman's right to do with her body what she pleases, are you against china's one child policy?

Yes I am. I believe people should be allowed to have as many children as they want.

Actually I am not against the law in China of the one child policy, it is there for a reason. China is a country that is over populated and doesn't have enough food to feed the people that it currently has, there is a need to restrict population growth. Just because I believe that a woman has the right to do what she believes with her body doesn't mean that there isn't a right for a country to establish a law governing the rights of the amount of children that she should have. One has nothing to do with the other. i think that the fact that Chinese women give up the girl children to orphanages, so that they can give birth to a male child is an awful thing, and this makes the law an awful thing in the long run. But, it does open up the ability for Americans to adopt Chinese girl children and give them better lives, which is totally off the subject. But, no matter what you say, women have a choice to do what they want with their bodies, you can't show me any different no matter what you want to bring up as a law in any other country or any other situation. I am the master of my body, and I am thankful of this. The government will never take this away from me.

I wasn't aware that policy was still in place, but to an extent I support it. China is a highly populated country with a relatively small area, having too many people could be dangerous to the stability of the entire country.
At the same time, I remember hearing about how so many baby girls would be killed or abandoned because parents were only allowed one child and girls were seen as a liability. I think the real problem in those situations is cultural rather than political - if women were viewed as equal to men then the child's sex wouldn't have mattered.

I'm pro-choice, but I don't believe the woman has the right to do whatever she wants with her body - there are circumstances where abortion is necessary, but if it was just a careless mistake, it's not ok.
On that note, I do feel china's policy is responsible, but leads to problems in the real world execution - what about twins, what about oopses, etc. It would be better to have it by personal responsibility than punished by law.

If the government is actually forcing them to not have kids, then it is wrong.. No one praises China's human rights record... Do you think the US should use China's acts as a reason to do things?

china's one child policy doesnt tell a woman what to do with her body.
The government just doesn't give the same benefits to a family that has more than one child. So it's not like they kill any children.
I read your article. Thank you.
This is a quote from your article
"The use of forced sterilization and forced abortion are in contradiction with officially stated policies and views of China"
So my opinion remains.

I'm politically pro-choice (my personal choice is pro-life), and I'm against reproductive limits. It should be an individual's choice either way, without political sanctions for or against procreation.
