warnings on DVDs about piracy and stealing?

Can you imagine going to Wal-Mart and before you're allowed to shop you're pulled aside and given a lecture on shoplifting and what the fine and penalties are for doing so? EVERY TIME!

I don't condone piracy but if someones gonna do it, they're gonna do it. Let me fast forward through this inane warning. I'm not a thief.

Yes, it is stupid that everyone has to sit through that. I for one do download some stuff, but i would never have bought in the first place! If I like a movie or a music artist. I purchase it to show that, but to always shell out 20 dollars for a movie that probably isn't worth 2 hours of your life anyways, is even crazier! I don't believe that them posting / giving warnings on every movie DETERS anyone from doing it!

Amen, brother! (or sister)

I spent a ridiculous amount of money to own the thing so I could watch it whenever I want.

But, no. I have to site through 5 and a half HOURS of threats, warnings, and accusations (not to mention who CARES what the Sony executives think about the commentaries and interviews?) -- I am being treated as though I had criminal intention, when I am simply trying to watch the thing, in my home, by myself (or with my roomie).

They should have the warnings on the package, and have a place you can specifically go to if you need to know the law or want the stupid disclaimer.

But most of the people who just want the entertainment have to watch all those threats, warnings, and accusations EVERY TIME.

I like your analogy -- the assumption that everyone is intending to break the law with every act they do every single time.

There are some that let you bip past, but most don't.

I haven't charged a roomful of people money, I just want to watch the show I PAID to watch.

It is called a disclaimer and is required by the FCC. For the stupid people out there who involve themselves in such illegal activity, the 1st thing they would say once they were caught would be, "I didn't know I couldn't do that." Besides it's on the screen 8 or 9 seconds. Don't look dvd until that and the previews have played.
