What I find interesting about this whole racist/not a racist thing is this. No one ever seems to point out that the media seem to over-emphasise incidents that include non-white suspects. We all know that the police can be somewhat over zealous at times (And it really doesn't matter what country you are talking about, it comes with the territory). But how many white people have you known who have been spirited around a corner or down a back alley and taken a kicking by the police (especially when they have been drinking)? I know of loads. Martin Luther King was onto something when he talked about some white people being slaves too. It is the media who make a big thing about colour. But the victims of police excesses are not solely black or Asian or Hispanic. The white working-class/ blue collar whites are in the same target-aim. People with low incomes have a lot less to lose by committing crimes. Non-whites are disproportionally poorer and thus more likely to be tempted by criminal alternatives. But there are plenty of whites in the same situation.
A more honest and moral political leadership, a more responsible, less cowardly media, and a more humanistic community spirit are the solutions to the complex problems that lead to the situations that inspire your question. It is not racist to notice things, including "differences". It is racist to consider one group of people better/ worse than another. Have you done that? Your question does not indicate that you have.

I'm so frustrated with uneducated "Leave It to Beaver" type mentalities. The majority of people who commit crimes live in poverty-stricken areas. They do crimes in some instances to survive. Not that it's right, but it's somewhat true.
The reason we see it on television, is because who wants to hear about girl scout troops planting flowers? The media broadcast crimes mostly in the inner cities. Rarely will they bring attention to the crimes commited by white-collar criminals.
For those who say that "the prison system is full of blacks and hispanics", well that's true because of the judicial system. Who can afford an attorney the majority of the time? Whites or Blacks/Hispanics? If you know the system and how it works then you chance of beating it are that much better.
I would suggest taking a Sociology class, or Criminology class to expand you mind.

The reason why there are so many "black offenders" is because they were kidnapped by the white colonists as early as the 16th century and taken to "hell", where they were raped, deprived, tortured and exploited. I bet they would like to go back "home" but unfortunately home is where they find themselves right now so stop wondering about the cameras and lobby your governments to provide better education and opportunities for the Blacks and Hispanics and I'm sure you'll make a better contribution to society than watching shows on TV. Good luck!

White collar crime causes blue collar crime.
Whites dont get caught as much, and when they do, they dont bring cameras, they are long drawn out investigations. Im not talking about lowly dealers, im talking about the people bringing the drugs in.
I have lived in Cleveland near the projects and near the mexican border. I have been an eyeaball in the wall for years. I can tell you that the government and law enforcement are corrupt. The people bringing the drugs in are mostly white. They do business buying wholesale from cartels and break it up and sell it to their minority "friends". They feel comfortable doing this in bad neighborhoods, where half of the cops are involved in it as well, and are easy to pay off.
The cartels dont need to cross the border to make a profit. The immigrants arent doing it, they make better money at home. It takes a lot of money to buy wholesale, and its usually upper class business owners involved, they use semis to bring it in.
Really sorry to break it to ya dude.

My sociology course last semester we had this discussion. My female black professor pointed out the fact that most of the arrests and problems on these shows are blacks or Hispanics that is correct, but they are silly things like a stolen car, drugs, or inappropriate conduct. Obviously these things are inappropriate and illegal but the crimes that many white people commit are things like corporate corruption. Think about Enron and the ridiculous things that the white man does. Its a wasp thing. I'm white and not offended by the white jokes made in your society so blacks and Hispanics need to get thicker skin and get over it. It's not racist!

The type of crimes that you see on shows like Cops are the crimes of the impoverished. If there is an imbalance between the races, it is due to the fact that racism throughout our history has more impoverished that particular group.
Interestingly, the crimes of the super-rich aren't shown on those types of programs; but clearly Bush, Cheney and the boys are guilty of more murder, destruction and stealing than all of the criminals you have ever seen on Cops put together. And they're white boys.

Those cameras are placed in strategic areas predominantly with an African American/Hispanic population. Also, those video tapes are cut and edited and you see only what the producers, media wants you to see.
As an intelligent human being you should be able to filter information you receive and use your judgment.
I am sure you are not stupid or ignorant or come from a dysfunctional family, so use your head and stop portraying yourself as an ignoramus. Comprendez?

Well, I have broken free from feeling the need to be politically correct (current trend)
People are people and there is such a thing as racism, however, I think we need to quit Identifying ourselves with our race and start becoming individuals.
The racist side of me worries about illegal aliens being above the law, blacks getting treated unfairly and whites identifying themselves with friendly faces that are all over the place who are not only people in power, but refer to white customers as trash.
We are all people living on this earth and have the right to be here, and we are able to choose living according to the law or breaking the law?

You need to open your mind and look at the really big picture. Think to yourself why other races act the way they do. Why do people in general act the way they do. TO SURVIVE.
You can learn a lot about people if you observe them and a person's history. Read some psychology books you'll learn a lot. Or just stay ignorant like them.
The problem with this country is Ignorance and corruption.

Asking why a particular color or race cause so much crime is just an illustration of your lack of intelligence.
You simply need more exposure. Turn off the TV and get real!
