I'm writing a story, and I need a good occupation for my character. She works in business and she wants to climb a career ladder. Since the story will start from her entry level job and end with her in a good stable job where she is making tons of money. I am looking more towards a job that involves marketing and major corporations. I want to go with a commercail advertisement agency sort of job, but if you could give me any ideas, I would really, really, really appreciate it. Thanks a bunch!!

Or you can also give me a good website that will tell me different occupations and what those occupations do and pay. I need lots of different types of jobs for different characters!

Public relations (PR) executive: they go to all the hip parties, schmooze with everyone, know everyone, are smooth talkers, are good storytellers, are usually (portrayed as, at least) cute, happy women.
They're also called spin doctors, especially if they work for a politician. That life too has different glamour: rubbing elbows with leaders of the nation and world, politically savvy, plugged into current events, involved in decisions that affect real lives and something in matters of life and death.
An advertising exec is also ok, but that job has a different perception: they are creative and artistic, know how people think, are quick with the right catchphrase, are in touch with trends. But they don't travel as much (just to client offices and photo shoots), whereas the PR pro follows the company to major events and milestones, potentially around the world.

depends what are other personality traits of character, i would go like this, first you decide how much your character is educated, experienced what special skills she has and what kind of job she will get if she has that kind of resume, what actions she would be doing in the story? what is her role in the story? this would decide whether she would be in film industry, advt., retail stores, television, news reporter for TV or news paper, doctor, advocate, architect, interior designer, politician and many more careers.
