are you sure she's your best friend, she dosent seem to respect your need for privacy, i mean where do you draw the line- theres just some things you dont discuss i mean for example-do you tell her everytime your parents make love, or do you tell her how many times aunt nellie goes the toilet, she seems to be very childish in her behaviour shes acting like a brat

I think ur right. The thing is u hav 2 think if ur friends going 2 find out anyway. If she is then she wil wonder why u didnt tell her.Explain 2 her it was suposed 2 b kept amongst the family. That u were told not 2 say anything.Pass the buck.Say u would of told her if ud realised the rest were telling people. There is a line with family stuf & i think u did the right thing it was the person who told who was wrong i think.

Well I dont always believe blood is thicker than water but I do have an opinion. If your supposed to keep a family secret then you should. Its your family's business and if she doesnt understand that then you guys really need to sit down and talk. She may just be jealous about not getting attention, or just plain noisy. I dont know her so its not in my position to tell.

I believe an honest question deserves an honest answer.....however that said there are some things that remain secret. If therefore a question is asked and the answer cannot be given because you have to honour a secret this can be explained. I can't tell you more because.....
and if the friendship is solid the friend understands.

I think it's up to you what you decide to tell your best friend! Your friend shouldn't have gotten mad about a family thing - you kept your word to your family and your friend should get that! I think if you trust your best friend you should be able to tell them anything - but that doesn't mean you have to tell them everything!!

Dis "FRIEND" sounds lyk she needs 2 be reminded about loyalty, so wat if u didn't tell her something true friends understand, i'm sure if de same thing happened 2 her she would stay on her family side (but den agen i don't no her). I think that family is important and i'm sure ur friend will understand soon, but it is true your family is important but ur friends can be equally important after all u can chose ur friends but not ur family!!!!!!!

You only need to tell your friend what you feel comfortable or want to tell her, theres no written 'best friend' rules. I don't tell my best friend EVERYTHING.
She should also understand that you were asked to keep it to yourself so you did, she'd expect you to do the same if she asked you to keep a secret.
