I think being anti-Bush is being patriotic to America, just look at the harm he has done to this once great nation.

I have read the answers so far written . Some are very good some are just drivel but at least they are giving their opinions. No I am not a Bush fan I support the troops my grandson is a Marine and has been to Iraq 3 times he was going to make a career but since he seen what was happening there first hand he has deiced not to sign over. He has lost all confidence in the Bush administration and the leaders of this war. I don't think that makes him a Anti American I also have
a nephew who pretty much feels the same way he is in the Army.they have friends who feel the same. The war is not being run the way it should be. Bush should have never got us into this predicament his motives were not because he was worried about weapons of mass destruction part was personal and part was the oil.Now were there and we can't just quit we have a responsibility's to our troops to bring them out safely.to their families. and try to help reconstruction of that country but not by being there on the ground maybe from Turkey or some place where they can start puting there country back together with some help from us.

Having a strong dislike for our current president doesn't make you un-American.
However, quite typically when I have conversations with people who despise our current president, they often do get around eventually to mentioning all the many things that they hate about this county. Then they will usually at some point dis-associate themselves from the country (I wish I could move back to blah blah, that's where my great great great aunt is from, or I am blah blah-American, etc.).
I have even had conversations with some of these people who attempt to defend the terrorists and their reasoning's!
Anyways, it is easy to see how the association can sometimes be made.

It isn't but showing disrespect for a commanding officer including the Commander in Chief (yes, that would be President Bush) can get you court martial. You can disagree but not to the point of childish name calling or questioning your orders including serving in Iraq or where ever your President sends you. Military has a higher standard.
You have no idea how conservatives think. You read on here people blowing off steam. You hear liberal news tell you what we think. They ask 100 people & use the 2 quotes that fit their view points. Most conservatives ' agendas are to raise our family safely & morally. To support our military & the President whoever it is - always working to have the President have our views. Freedom is to believe as we see fit & to vote as we please.

The only person who is anti-American are the people who do not defend the Constitution and the People it represents. It has absolutely nothing to do with who is currently sitting in the White House or his actions. Someone who would allow the Constitution to be compromised is anti-American. Do not let the small minded individuals cajole you into thinking your support or lack thereof of a sitting official is anti or pro American, it is a false argument, dishonest.

Who says anti Bush is automatically anti American? That is certainly not true. However being so virulently against President Bush that you want the US to fail IS anti American. There seem to be a lot of people in the latter catagory on this board.

Personally, I don't really know where you hear this. I have never called someone who didn't agree with Bush as an anti-american. Now if someones talking about KILLING him or something like that, I would say they are anti-American. But thats mainly just because you would be trying to kill America's leader.

Throughout our history, any critcism against conservative cause has been deemed anti-american. They are very good at staking out the claim as being patriotic, get elected, get exposed for what they are and get kicked out of office. The moderates swing most elections and the consevatives are very good at telling them what they truly believe in, such as the war. But when they see their sons with no bulllet proof vests or armour on their humvees, or inadequate medical care for injured soldiers. they begin to question what's going on. Judging by our conservative presidents approval rating, there are a lot of anti americans living in this country. Conservatives had both houses, a majority on the Supreme Court and a president and they blew it

Man, where do you get this nonsense? Of course you can oppose anybody you wish. What is anti-American is embracing socialism. What is Anti-American is underhandedly undermining the war effort by loading appropriations bills with Unconstitutional micromanagement of the war and tons of pork. What is unpatriotic is calling for the deaths of the president and others in his administration. What is un-American is trying to silence the opposition.
What is American is to debate and argue and disagree. We have always done that. But calling the president a retard or other such vitriol adds nothing to the debate and makes your own side look bad.
The object is to try to persuade the other side to agree with you, not to destroy them or kill them or have them arrested.
Want to argue, bring it on. Want to name call, go back to second grade.
