If a pregnant woman has a dental x-ray she is three times more likely to have a low birth weight baby than a woman who did not have a dental x-ray, say researchers.

Researchers at Washington University School of Dentistry, Seattle, USA, looked at 4,500 women and found that those who had had dental x-rays were more likely to have babies who weigh under five pounds.

Given that the amount of radiation a person is exposed to during an x-ray is very low, the researchers were quite surprised by their findings.

you can get an xray from the dentist while pregnant. They cover you with a lead apron.
I know, I am pregnant and just had a dental xray 2 weeks ago and a wisdom tooth extraction

Most dentist or any good dentist wont let you have x-rays for the same reson you can't do a lot of other things when your pregnant. It could harm your baby so they wont take a chance.

radiation is harmful if excessive. They could put a lead apron o you but it would be alot of radiation to a small baby. I guess dental xrays are considered non-essential and can wait until you are not pregnant

That is untrue. You can get x-rays in your mouth when you are pregnant. Some say that you should't get x-rays in the first 3 months because of radiation and the harm it can cause the fetus before it is developled into a baby.

Microwaves aren't harmful

I got an xray at the dentist during my first trimester and my thrid trimester with my 3rd baby. Everything was fine. Its nothing to be worried about. My baby was completely healthy. It is safe to do. Dentists wouldnt do it if it was going to do damage. LOTS of women get dental xrays during pregnancy.

it really is one in all those situations the position we anticipate of someone can make us do something because it really is 'fantastically' stated! PLEASE...do not even evaluate it for a minute my expensive...i'd act as in case you doesn't even imagine them asking you to evaluate it, and that i wish they doesn't both once understanding you're pregnant. remember you're paying them...(or your coverage is...) so that you call the images!

The radiation expands in all the room, is not exclusive for the mouth area, so it affects the pregnancy
