IMHO, I would say no. Simply because there are games out there that you can play for free. Yes some of them are pretty crappy, but there are others like Rappelz that can have you hooked just as easily as WoW, and still not cost you a penny to buy or pay a monthly fee.
Ive played WoW and numerous other MMORPGs, and by far I enjoy Rappelz more than any of them.

I can't tell you whether or not to buy something it's your money and your choice. I can tell you it is by far the most popular MMORPG on the market with over 7 million active subscribers.
I have personally been playing WoW for more years than I care to think about and have so far not grown bored with the game. It contains elements of Player vs Environment and Player vs Player. It has a rich lore and although the graphics aren't as good as say, Elder Scrolls Online the graphics are good enough to suck you into the game. It is highly addictive and very social. It is not just my favorite MMORPG but it is my favorite form of entertainment.
Before shelling out your money though why don't you download it for free and play the first few levels to get a taste for it and decide for yourself if you like it or not.
And yes you have to pay a subscription to play.

It's a fun game. You do have to pay a monthly fee after your first month.
Purchasing the game will give you a free month of play. And then after that you would have to buy game cards (which are available everywhere) or automatically charge it to your parents' or your credit card.
Trust me it's worth it. There's someone who gives out free gold for joining under him you might want to check it out and get an invitation to try WoW from that guy

you can get it IF rpgs are ur kind of game. yes, monthly u have to pay 15$, less if u do a plan for like a year or so. to me, it's worth it, but i kno some people who it isnt. also, you are always playin online, there is no offline modes like in diablo or starcraft.

Yes you have to pay a monthly fee, but it is soooo worth it!! I was never a "gamer" but since WOW, I am hooked! :)

Don't buy it, it's addicting, and it cost a lot. Like 10 bucks monthly. It takes forever to advance in the game and it's often tedious to do certain things.
It is fun, but often you play so often, and when you finally finish, you realize that you achieved nothing but painfull fingers, a decrease in friends, and a fat but.

You should, nobody knows what its like until you try the trial, that you can download online for free. Try it before making judgements.
