Give it a good oil and oil filter change and that should work, sometimes moisture condenses in the engine and changes the viscosity of the oil, also if it is on premium gas it may have lost some of the octane power and it may need some dry gas or octane booster added

Are you sure it is a mechanical noise from the engine? these are great motors and little trouble with them. Before you have someone tell you to spend a lot of money be sure to look at the serpentine belt and belt idler pulleys they will sound similar. As to the oil leak, there is a TSB, technical service bulletin to the oil leak, between the two lower block surfaces. Just keep an eye on the oil level for now and see if it gets worse. The engine holds 8 quarts of oil just to let you know. The valve tappets are non adjustable also. Take it to someone you trust, remember even the Cadillac dealer can be a cheat. Best of luck

Sounds like tappets to me, 80K is prime time to develop this pesky tappet ticking. You may want to have a look at the oil pump, it may not be getting sufficient oil to the top of the engine and properly lubricating these guys. You can also try running through some type of additive to flush your engine, as the tappets may be sticky, or gummed up with old oil residue and not functioning properly. If these dont work, you can always replace them!

OK the good news is I think it would be a noisy tappet. As they say a noise tappet is a good tappet.
This is sort of true.........if you can hear it tick then you know they are working.......they can be adjusted which is pretty cheap to get done (under 100). If they are hydraulic lifter you wont be able to adjust them. Don't worry then,
Next time you get your car serviced just ask, I doubt you have anything to worry about

Get an oil change and fix the leak. If it still happens check the valves

At this point,it all depends on how much you want to invest in the motor, what kind of shape the rest of the car is in,and how long you plan on keeping it.
