All of the other answers hit upon a lot of the major causes for Hitler's rise to power: Hyper-inflation that crippled the German economy (in July, 1922 670 Reichmarks = $1, by November 1922, 10,000 Reichmarks = $1), Defeat in WWI coupled with humiliating reparation demands by the victorious powers, German citizen's search for pride and strength through a common national identity, etc..
But there are other factors that come into play. At the time that Hitler came to power, the election essentially became a referendum of Nazism v. communism. One of the reasons was the inability of alternative parties to field effective candidates for office. Some early opposition candidates were killed or discredited by early Nazi officials, or simply disappeared. Another factor is the rampant fear caused primarily by Nazis to impose their will on the German people. Several instances are the Reichstag fire in 1933, which led to the suspension of civil liberties; and the "Night of the Long Knives" in 1934, where Hitler used murder and sabotage to eliminate his political rivals and consolidate his power.
I wonder if people who voted for the Nazi party in 1932 knew what they were getting into, my guess is no. By the time the few who could figure it all out knew what was happening, the trap was sprung, and they were already waist-deep in blood and fire, with very little chance to get out. While the German people didn't suffer nearly as much as some of the Nazi victims, suffer they did.
This should serve as a lesson to anyone who is willing to invest any single individual or party with ultimate power "for the good of the people". I think it was Benjamin Franklin who stated "Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety deserve neither Liberty nor Safety"

The Germans voted for Hitler because Hitler rose to power during the great depression in Germany.
And the depression in Germany was far worse than the one in the US and so people were desperate.
Hitler convinced the people that Jews were the cause of the depression because they took all the jobs and etc.
He said that people with blond hair and blue eyes were the superior races.
This cause the Germans to vote for Hitler because they thought that Hitler was right.
I hope it helps.

The Germans voted for because he promised things the Germans needed. Since they were in a depression, the Germans were ready to believe him. Also, he was a very manipulative and persuasive speaker, so he could use words to make the Germans believe him. The current government of that time wasn't doing anything to get the Germans out of the depression or get revenge on the Allies and their Treaty of Versailles. gave the people what they wanted to hear, so, being desperate and manipulated, they voted for him.

But if you see the movie "Downfall" profilling Hitler, it shows how much respect people had for Hitler. Yes, he was z bit crazy, but if he wouldn't have made that mistake in Russia, Germany would be half of the world now!!!!
