Many different species have non-reproducing individuals. It evidently has survival value.
When there is a genetic trait which results in occasional individuals not breeding, and those individuals stick around in the social group and help out with foraging and looking after the young and so on, that trait must tend to be inherited in future generations.

It is a preference, a taste. Why do vegetarians exist or people who like chicken. Everyone id different. They have different interests, personalities, opinions and preferences. What kind of question is this?

I believe that it is caused by pressures on the population due to overpopulation. Natures way of slowing the growth rate of any large population of any species.

Because its different and as far back as history goes...what is different is always not the right way. Isn't it funny that once we all get "used" to the idea of those differences...its considered ok. Humans are still ignorant. We'll learn eventually....

it is just a different type of lifestyle... people have been taught to reject this type of living because of their religion, beliefs, etc. i honestly think it is just a matter of genetics, something that individuals do not choose, so i dont see why so many people are homophobic, theyre just normal people as you and me

That's easy. We play with ourselves when we're little. Some of us don't grow up and continue to want to play with the same things now as we did when we were little. Personally, I prefer to play with things I didn't play with when I was little. It's more of an immaturity issue.
