If you are one into electronics, and cell phones, etc., it is the place for you. I used to work for them. Be prepared for the first day or two to sit in the back room and watch training vidoes. Also, be prepared to wear light brown/beige pants/ blue shirt for your work "uniform". The co workers are pretty good-usually. The job environment-can be busy or slow, depending on where the store you work at is located. Be ready to help get stock put away when it comes in, and customer service is vital. Also, they have mandatory inventories. It's a pretty good place to work at, and for. Just learn, be willing to learn, and do your best for the customers. You will do fine. Take care.

It was all right I guess. They paid minimum wage and then filled your head with talk of commission and how much you can make. It is a figure that they multiply by the hours you worked and that is the amount you're expected to sell. When you get above that figure, then you will start earning commissions on the rest of the sales, something like 3-5%
I have to give them credit, they were good at hitting that number. I made some commission because I sold a couple of stereo systems that week.
The co-workers were decent enough, and the boss, was pretty fair. He was working for Radio Shack at the time and later on he bought one or two stores and then he went to run them. I only stayed for about 3 weeks. I didn't like working at night and the store wasn't busy during those times and it made it hard to get the magic number to get the bonus.
You may like it and do well. Things may have changed since I worked there and all stores are different., so who knows, give it a chance and go from there.

I applied on line for Radio Shack. I just moved to a small Texas town and after I filled out my application, I heard back two days later. But I never got back with them. It may be a good place to work but I don't like how they stick everyone on the register even when you request not to be on one. I said I'd rather work on displays and work the floor by helping customers other than the register.

After I realized I'd have to do register work anyway I didn't get back with them. I've never wanted to work the cash register because I'm so shy. It's the first thing I mention on certain kinds of jobs. Radio Shack doesn't give you options like other jobs. They require you do the same thing. They also claim you move up in status. This can't be true because there is one man who's been working the register at the Radio Shack by my neighborhood for at least twelve years. He hasn't moved an inch.

I don't buy their claim that you move up. I believe you have to start out working at a higher level at RS to actually make decent money. Everything else they say seems to be bull just to get more people to work there. Plus, they never have any customers. Working at their stores would be way too boring for me.

Good luck to you!
