The first five movies, The Cocoanuts, Monkey Business, Horsefeathers, Animal Crackers and Duck Soup were brilliant. Then Zeppo left and it just seemed to me like something was gone. Night at the Opera and Day at the Races just left me cold, and after that the movies declined in quality. Do you agree? If you do agree, what do you think was missing when Zeppo left?

What was lost was the straight man. The good looking young 'lead' of the Marx Bros. . But I think they really started going down-hill after Gummo was forced out due to traveling arrangements. A Pullman compartment had four sleepers and they would have had to purchase another sleeper for a fifth brother. He had been in the original stage act.

The movie may have been missing something but the comedy was the same. Zeppo was not a true comedian. He was like an untalented stooge.
