"There are two ways most of people spend their lives in this world, they're either working hard, or hardly working."

Wanting things brings suffering.

For example:

An old man is on the street, feeling immense hunger. He could either beg for food (wanting it) or be content with what he has (although not much, he still has something). If he is content, he won't feel sad/upset about being hungry, so he won't suffer. If he does beg for food, he will probably not get any, feel like a failure, and still be hungry.

Also, suffering is a part of life.

There are some of the philosophies that Buddha discovered. Buddhism is based on those principles and a few more.
