I do not believe most conspiracy theories, but I think it is likely the James Earl Ray had help. Martin Luther King was hated by a lot of people. Someone had offered a bounty of $50,000 for his death. The Government and law enforcement wanted the cases "solved" because of its inflammatory nature, so they did not really look beyond James Earl Ray.
