No I do not think it is weird. I think it is mostly a subconscious idea in our mind that automatically makes the avatar similar to your actual appearence. I know my avatar has my blue eyes and blonde hair. I also put in a snowboard hat which I almost always wear every day of winter. It helps the other people on this community get an idea of who you are without having an actual picture. Since we will mostly likely pick our favorite type of clothes for our avatar that only makes sense that it will be close to your usual style that you find in your wardrobe.
Of course many people might change the avatar in a few ways to make it closer to the ideal self they would like to look like. This could be having brown eyes and wanting blue eyes or hair color.
