I'm a bantam and currently wearing a cage. I'm thinking of switching to a half-shield cage helmet. Any help would be appreiciated.

Keep the cage, the protection is better and it will never fog up. Have fun, play hard.

If you are use to wearing a cage, keep wearing the cage. The shield gives you better vision, but unless you are playing at a pro level there is no need to have it. I grew up wearing playing hockey with a full cage and don't even notice it when I am playing a game. If you take the cage off you might find that your play suffers because you now have to worry about protecting your face while digging in the corners or facing on coming shots. Keep it.

id say stay with the cage. If you watch any junior hockey or even guys in the NHL with face injuries, they seem to prefer the cage to the plastic. i always had problems breathing with a full plastic shield so i got a white Bauer cage and have not been disappointed at all. keeps you nice and cool and you can breathe a lot easier. no vision difference really, i think i see better with a cage. you have a wider peripheral view and plastic seems to warp some of my vision down and to the side.

I wear a cage just because it was cheaper. I also like that any angle that I get him from will have full protection. It is not the pucks that catch you as much as the sticks anyway to it matters to me.
