If it is the liquid type in the bottle that you squeeze or pour out and apply with a (new) sponge every time, I would keep using it until it develops a strange odor, texture or color.
However, if it's a type in a compact, where you use the same sponge/pouf/applicator to swipe on the makeup every time, I would throw it out. I say this because if the makeup has been contacting the same sponge for god knows how long, anything (bacteria, etc.) could be growing on the applicator/makeup, especially since it may have been used by someone else before you.
Hope this makes sense and helps you.

Make up does have a shelf life. I wouldn't keep it any kind of liquid based makeup for longer than 6 months. I suggest you visit the MaryKay website and find the concealer you are using there.

According to a news report I saw, concealers are okay for probably about a year...
I mean, really... you can keep make-up for a while and there is not a SERIOUS risk. You always have the SLIGHT risk of bacteria. Some people just refuse to keep something for that long. Mascaras are the big deal to me. I throw them out after about five months. Concealers though... unless it is getting dried up I wouldn't worry about it.

I'd toss it. Maybe next time you could put some in a small container then freeze the rest in a ziploc bag. I think 3-4 months is the limit. Why risk it it's your face.

not quite sure how long concelers are good for, but if it doesn't smell funny then I would say keep using it. Eye makeup is often good for a few months, but I think conceler can last about a year or so. I'm not 100% sure, but I do know it is good to replace eye makeup more often.

One way to determine if the concealer is old is that the oil and the powder is noticeably separated so if that's the case you can throw them out ^^,

If she can't remember when she bought it, it is way too old. Throw it out.
Is she a friend? If so not a very good one, giving you some old concealer that could possibly break you out.

ok first off makeup does get to old. i say you need to change your makeup every 6 months. I learned the hard way of wearing old makeup that was my moms, it started to irritate my eyes so bad that i had to start bringing prescription eye drops to school and when i stop the following day i felt much better.
