Board games became very popular, as folks were between jobs, they could at least entertain the family without a large expenditure of cash.
Chess has antecedents to at least the third Century AD. It's one of the oldest games in the world, and was used originally to teach tactics to Indian and Persian nobility.
Parchesi, Checkers ("Draughts")/Chinese Checkers also have long lineages.
One game you missed was Monopoly. It and its relatives were very popular in the late 1930s.
"Scrabble" was only published after WW2. However, similar wordgames were played during the Depression.
