I ordered a few packets of seeds for Scherazi Iran Smoking Tobacco, and a few other flowering tobacco plants (nicotiana).

I wanted them first for their extremely fragrant flowers, but now I am curious about how I could actually make a product from it? I dont smoke, but my hubby does (some) and his friends do. As gross as it sounds to me, I think Id be interested in trying to make some smoking tobacco just for the heck of it.

Anyone know how to do it? What is the process?

I havent been able to find good sources on the net.

Thanks!!!!

Its just tabacco plant. Its not marajuana. lol. No its not illegal. If it was, it would be illegal to smoke ciggarettes. :)

People buy them for garden plants all the time. They are sold at walmart. I doubt its illegal. They sell it as an annual or herb.

My grandpapy was a tobacco farmer -- and they dried the leaves over special racks in the sun - then stored them in a humidity controlled room for a short period of time and then chopped them up into smaller pieces and toasted them in an oven for 15 to 20 minutes. then they were ground into cigarette tobacco and packaged. Some countries don't dry the leaves complete or toast them they put them on racks in the sun but grind them into tobacco straight from the racks.
There are places on the Internet where you can buy tobacco plants.
