Prior won't even win 20 more games during the rest of his career. He's done.

As bad as the Cubs luck seems to be, I will say that Prior will go elsewhere and win 20 games in his first season with a new team. If I am not mistaken this will be Priors 5th year of service with the Cubs meaning he can become an unrestricted free agent next year, and he also has only one year remaining on his contract. Prior will probably end up with a west coast team and to the dismay of Cubs fans will win 20, the Cy Young and either knock them out of the NLCS or beat them in the World Series in the Seventh game with a no no.

In all seriousness though Prior has along way to go before he can even think about 20. He is most likely not even going to make the rotation and will not even make his appearance at Wrigley until the cold weather is over, he might not even be ready until late May-June. He has to get his velocity up out into at least the low 90's instead of the mid 80's from where it is now, get command back of his breaking ball, and more than anything get back his confidence and get some mental toughness. One arm wrecker, Dusty Baker is already gone from Chicago, but Rothschild is still there. If Prior has to pitch many more years under Larry his career will be over pretty soon.

First off he actually has to be on the Major League Roster which wont happen this season...
If he can build up strength in the Minors and work his way back to the Major by mid season 10 wins could be possible
Id say look for Next year and if he is healthy he could win 20 games

As a Cubs fan, I hope he can. However, its been 3 full seasons since his carrer high 2003 season. Injuries have taken alot out of him. He will need at least 2 injury free and decent season before he can try to be a 20 game winner and an ace. I wish the best for him.

The question should be will Mark Prior pitch 20 games this season...

I'm afraid Prior will not win 20 games in his lifetime. His fastball is down to 87 MPH and he can't throw his breaking balls for strikes.

It's a pity because he had so much talent, but they over-used him too early. He will never be the same pitcher he once was.

Do the minor leagues count? There isn't much demand for an injury prone pitcher who throws in the 80's and can't find the strike zone in the majors.Stick a fork in Prior,he's done.

At this time with his recovering from arm problems it is doubtful. His fastball is still in the low eighties, his control is not there which means his rotator is probably loose, and his confidence seems shakey at this time. With that said, IF he returns to his early form and gets command of his pitches again he might do it. I just at this time doubt it and I hate that because he is a good guy too. The Cubs should ask Maddix to work with him because Greg has had a terrific career with a mid eighties fastball and is headed to the Hall of Fame with it.

Prior is best suited in the bullpen. Wood too. They just can't seem to stay healthy.
