What needs and benefits does co-ops fulfill in rural areas? are coops able to survive than private bussineses? why or why not? thank you!

Coops reduce costs by reducing reduncancy. They also have more purchase power by buying in bulk. They are less flexable than private businesses but this also reduces poor business decisions.

There are lots of benefits. One good benefit is, It will create a lot of entrepreneur, lots of jobs in your area. Choosing not only a good leader but also a responsible member will qualify your coop to survive in this kind of business.

Co-op. Societies are very effective in rural areas, provided effective leader is at helm of affairs. Amul, Verka, are some of the exemple of sucessful co-op. in India.

Co operative will definately survive if good leadership is there and people have trust in leadership. It fails when people loose trust, leadership is directionless and traped for money .Amul is the big example of co operative movement while many co operativ banks fails.
