OK, we adopted our son 15 years ago.
Every time Anglina Jollet adopts a FOREIGN child, I grit my teeth! What is wrong with adopting a USA child?
Oh, that's right; not as much plublicity.
When we were trying to adopt; ANY SOURCE was contacted. Foreign children adoptions, we were told, required 4 things:
$10,000 bank check
$10,000 bank check (2nd check)
$10,000 bank check (3rd check)
You fly to the adoptive country, get an apartment, sit and WAIT - 3 MONTHS. The first time they contact you, give them the first check. The second time they contact you, with the child, give them the second check. The third time is when you and the child - leave. Give them the third check before you go...
I laughed loud at the woman who did the foreign adoptions on this one. She wore diamonds and drove a brand new mercedes.

Jollet can fly over in 1-3 days, pick up her child, and then leave.
Sure, she is not treated any different than others...

Right!

It was right after she gave birth to her and Brads baby that she started proceedings on this latest adoption. So it was quite a bit more then 1 to 3 days. As far a adopting a foreign child, perhaps a visit to the regions where she has done extensive good will work and seen the conditions in which these children live might give a better insight into why. Any child in any country without a home and family is a tragedy, It is a blessing whenever, whoever, or where ever a child is given the opportunity to have a home and family. My instincts, and that's all i have to go on, tell me Angelina Jollet will be a loveing and careing mother. Isnt that what is important here. I wish you the best in your attempt to adopt. That is the act of a true unselfish hero.

We adopted our children internationally, and our experience was nothing like what you explained (although all programs can be different)
We had the open of having our kids escorted, so we did not travel, and I don't know anyone whose had to stay overseas for more then a few weeks. Also, International adoption fees are often less then private domestic adoptions.
The main reason many parents adopt internationally is that there isn't the risk of the child being taken from the adoptive parents after being placed. Finally, ALL children need families, no matter where they're born!

I think you are being harsh. You don't know the whole story, maybe her adoption process took a while but it was not publicized.Plus he was older so that speeds up teh whole process. Don't judge, be happy that she is adopting kids & they can have a loving family, home & oppurtunities. Did you ever stop to think that the media is going to get to her , no matter what she does, shes famous so she will have photographers & reporters all the time, that doesn't mean oooh there are reporters & photographers there so she must be doing all thsi for publicity! Be happy that you have your son, its great that you adopted, but things aren't always as they appear. I don't really like her acting, but she is helping people & cares. I don't really like her as a person either, bu tI like her actions, helping others. Just be grateful that you have your son, don't whine, & if you don't like her then turn the channel, & don't pick up the magazines. Have a good day.
Ps. I plan to adopt to!! In about 9 years, I'll probably go on my 25th birthday lol. Anyways. best of luck.

I don't see your question. It really doesn't matter where she adopts the child from, she's adopting a child in need and that's all that should matter. The fact that she chooses to adopt a child from other nations is no concern to us at all. Angelina gets press and publicity andwhere she goes and I'm sure that if she adopts a child here in the states there would be more publicity. We must always remember that the united states is not a third world country, the places where she adopts her children are. So why are you mad that's she's giving a child who would probably not have a chance in making something of themselves, a chance? Maybe you think you deserve some publicity?

We also adopted our child from the US. I agree that celebrity adoptions give a bad impression to the public about adoption - just look at the responses you received! I agree that any adoption is important, however, I do not believe it is fair that celebrities are allowed to receive preferential treatment and not follow all the rules. Sure, money talks. But they should still be required to follow the rules set in place for a standard family. Take Madonna for example, she was given special consideration to leave the country with her adopted child without having to follow the standard requirement of living in that country for a period of time. It absolutely irks me that it is so difficult to adopt, and yet these celebrities make it appear to be as easy as going to the mall and picking up a new pair of shoes!

You know nothing about Jolie's adoptions. She and Brad were talking about adoption another foreign child when she was preg with their daughter. She went over to Vietnam several times after her daughter was born (not reported on ET) She started the paperwork 5 months ago. She didn't personally pick this boy, the adoption agency and orphanage picked him for her to adopt and she met him several times and fell in love with him and agreed to adopt him.

There is nothing wrong with adopting children from any country. There are millions of children all over the world that need loving homes and if a couple wants to give a home to children from the poorest countries, then why can't they? My friend and her husband adopted a Chinese boy last year and are adopting another one in May.

Research the entire story about celebrity adoption before you mouth off. Celebrities do somethings in private before they let the media know what is happening. And in some countries it takes a year to adopt, some several months and some just a few months. Depends on the couple and how well they have their paperwork ready and organized. And Jolie is helping foreign countries so they pretty much know her and Brad now. Not as movie stars but as humanitarians. Jealous?

We adopted internationally and used the same agency as Jolie. She went through the same exact process I did. No celebrity shortcuts. It did not cost $30,000, and there is plenty of help (including $11,000 federal tax credit) for adopting families. You do not stay in the country for 3 months (although some countries you might but none she adopted from). Our stay-one week. We could have had him brought to us, but it was important for us to experience his homeland. I think you should do some research before sitting in judgement.

As far as why not adopt from the US. Thats a fantastic idea, domestic adoption is WONDERFUL. OP and those who have, I'm glad you did it and the rest of you... yeah why don't you adopt from the US, since you feel so strongly about it? I felt called to adopt out of the US. My son isn't any less deserving of a home then one born in the US.

You were certainly blessed to be able to adopt a child. No doubt every other parent who does the same feels the same way.

because she would like to have a child that apprecaites her for her and not that she is a star. A child from a very poor national will be grateful for the life she can give it. American kids just want to go to Mcdonalds and play xbox all day.

Not my opinion personally but that is what she basically said before. Oprah too.

I think if you are an american your dealings should be done in america
