me and my husband want to try to start a small horse ranch, but we need to get some grants to get the ball rolling. i was wondering if anyone had any clue on how to get this project started. any info will be very helpfull

no money in ranching. there is a glut of horses on the market. i know a top racing ranch and they say that only 10% of the horses actually make money. ouch! i heard you can get free acres in north Alaska (web search). Then all you need is a pregnant mare to get started. but the climate is probably better suited for caribou. in otherwords, you have a high risk dream that is not attractive to investors. you will need to make this happen on your own. the idea of a dude ranch, or other revenue-generating activities is a good start. maybe work at one for awhile and get to learn the ropes.

There is NO money in a horse ranch. Dude ranch maybe. In conjunction with a rehab place maybe. You don't say where you are.

I would write the business plan. This will let you know if it is viable. If it really is a bank will loan you money. If a bank does then don't take it but go looking for grants that fit. Most grants are in conjunction with speciality. Like the rehab...perhaps you have a mental hospital next you ...youcould partner with them and perhaps get grants that way.
