When at a restaurant where you line up to order and get your food and there is limited seating (small place or busy) is it acceptable to "claim" a table even though there are people ahead of you in line that will get their order first?

Doesn't it bug anyone when people that are lined up behind you claim the empty tables even though you were in the restaurant first?

To those that answered first come - first served - isn't the person in front of you "first"?

It is considered rood if you try to get in front of people in a restaurant that are waiting in a line. It's not fair to the other people who were waiting there patiently, and now someone gets in front of them. If you were that person in the front, and someone was trying to get in front of you, you wouldn't like it, neither would I.

If I have my children I will sit them at the table and then order only b/c I think it's easier.
Yet if I'm by myself or with other adults I don't do this I would just grab it to go or wait to sit down.
I never really have been in that situation b/c it's called fast food for a reason.
What bugs me is when people sit there finished eating and there are no table and continue to talk and talk without having any thought to anyone else!!!

The only way to claim a table in a fast food restaurant, is to have another person come in with you, get them to sit at a table, and then you order the food for you and your friend. Don't forget its not a fine dining restaurant. Its first come first served.

its really first come first serve basis. the best way to really claim a table is if you bring 1 or more people with you, and one person goes in line while at least one person sits, and stays at the empty table.
Yes, it really does bug me that when people are lined up behind me and claim the empty tables even though I really was there first, it drives me absolutely nuts, but as I said; first come forst serve basis.

Hey, first come first served. You got in line first so you get your food first. I went to get a seat first so I get a seat first. I rarely eat in those places anyway. If I have time to sit down, I'm not going to waste it on fast food so don't worry about me.

That certainly would bug me! I have NEVER had anyone be this rude. I don't know where you're from, but us Oklahomans just don't do that.
