I know this guy named Jack. I don't really know him and we haven't really talked. He's not gross and he's not super hot. but this is what he emailed me one day...i have no idea what to say to him.

ugh, if u like back-handed compliments this guy is great..."one of my friends i told said u werent as hot as other people at our school but i dont care what they say..." he should have left that part out of his little "love email"! aside from that he seems sweet. he has a hard time saying these things outloud so its easier on myspace n everything. if u think hes nice then start having lunch with him or something to see if u like him or not. tell him stuff u like about him, and see what he says back, thatll let u kinda know if he really likes u or just thinks he does. he should say nice things back to u when u compliment him...it shows he is paying attention. if its not right, then u can always just b friends. just take it slow and if u two like each other the sparks will fly when its right :)

What do you think you should say? do you like him back? He really went out on a limb here, so if not tell him you're interested in becoming good friends. who knows you may realize you like him too, and a good friendship could turn into a wonderful relationship - dont be offended by what his friends had said - they sound superficial - and maybe he shouldnt have told you that, but he's just trying to get his point across that he likes you and he doesnt care what anyone thinks about it.

That's weird. Print out that email and show it to him one day if you see him in class alone or something. Ask him calmly to see what he means and tell him how you feel. But don't need to freak out!
