of my hips-what is meant by a curvy fit : contoured through hips and thighs vs modern fit: sits below waist? does modern fit give a more graceful backside appearance? and where do i shop for nice pants? i've looked at american eagle but it's more sporty...anne taylor...etc? any further suggestions? thanks!

stay away from any cut but low rise and do not wear skinny leg jeans

try ann taylor loft. I am very curvy and their pants are the best. for me, I find that the curvy fit means that the just hug my waist better. In normal non curvy pants, by the time I fit my big hips, the wait is toobig and they gap in the back. So the curvy pants don't do that for me. I am not sure what a modern fit means. Some stores that is their term for lower rise. I tend to like lower, not super low rise pants better.

Also, steer clear of anything marked as skinny jeans, tapered, or very wide flares. try straight leg or slight boot cut. They flatter everybody.
