I am a musician and I want to play more than just at school, plus i need a job but really don't want to work a normal cashier job. Is there any where thats willing to hire a high school student to play?

Depends on where you live. If it's a town with a lot of aspiring musicians (i.e. Austin, Portland) it's pretty easy to find a local joint that'll let you play. If you're in a bigger city with more established acts, it'll be tough.

As far as pay goes, don't count on it. The best you can do is put out a tip jar, and hope that the place has some generous customers.

I'm from Austin, and it's pretty easy to get a gig here, But I find that the best way to go about it is to approach the manager at a small joint you've seen other starting artists play, and ask how to go about getting a slot. Different places have different policies.

Check out cragslist.org. They have a section for musicians.

well it`s good to play at some schools and that is how some musicians started off and who knows you might get very famous from good schools (like my previous)!!!!

Look and post on Craig's list. Lots of things like that there. Good luck!
