I mean, I have a set up of one line, via S-Video, to my rear projecting TV and another line to my 19 inch monitor. I want to play Battlefield 2 and other games on the 19 inch, while my relatives can watch their programs (on DVD) pn the large screen. We don't a have separate DVD player, so we have to play it via the dvd player in the computer. Is there a way to split the sounds so the sounds from the DVD can come from the TV speakers and the sounds from the game can from the other speakers connected to the computers? You know, split the sounds?

No sound is carried via S-Video or DVI connectors.
You would need a second sound card & the cables to carry the sound over to the TV.
Getting everything to work they way you want it each time is not worth the hassle or the expense.

Just get a console DVD player from Walmart for your relatives ... it's cheaper ( as low as $25) & will not use up resources on your PC
....... nor will you have to be bothered for "pause" , "play" etc ... they will control their own device.

YES ..you do..
the only restriction is , you have to have 2 different sound devices.. It can be 2 different audio cards or something like the configuration than I'm using right now in my PC..see:

I got my audio card installed on my PC and I added a wireless USB blue tooth head set...
In the control panel GO to audio then you will see the 2 or 3 different choices you have..
in my case i have nvidia audio and USB audio

so ..If I go to BF2 I use the nvidia card .. at the same time I can got on yahoo messenger and once there in that software I choose the USB audio option for audio output..

all this means: you need to Use more than one audio device and choose to use them FROM the software that you are running in that moment..
