Howard Aris, chairman of the Sports Development Foundation (SDF) was elected president of the JAAA in a keenly contested election held on December 2. Aris amassed 82 votes to 78 for Business Executive Ian Forbes . The Aris-led slate swept the remaining sixteen positions for office, with Olympians Grace Jackson for first Vice President, Vilma Charlton 3th VP and Donald Quarrie and Bertland Cameron for the executive committee. The new team will take office immediately and will run the affairs of the JAAA over the next four years, under the theme “Moving Athletics Into the 21st Century”
