2000 Buick Regal Stalling when turn signals are used?

I recently bought a 2000 Buick Regal, it stalls when I turn the blinkers on, right or left, doesn't matter. All the dash lights come on and the car goes dead. Scary when you're in traffic, the power stearing also goes out. Problem is intermitent. Had 5 different mechanics say they can't find it. They've replaced the mullti function switch in the stearing column and swear they have been through all the wiring but my car continues to stall. It also intermitently won't start back up, dash lights blink on and off, sounds almost like the battery is completely dead or the starter isn't getting the job done. Also, without warning, the traction assist will turn off, check engine light and ABS lights will come on. The dealership I bought this car from have basically washed thier hands of it and will not service it again. Wondering if anybody out there has some advice? Knows what the problem is? It would be wonderful if I could pin point it, fix it and not freak everytime I drive my car

Confirmed Fix: Ignition Switch



Problem Description: Car stalled out and was towed to our shop. Wouldn't restart, would crank like someone was turning ignition key to start and off rapidly. When key was left in run position, all instrument panel warning lights and gauges pulsed on and off like a turn signal bulb. If parking brake was on or headlights or hazard lights were on, problem went away but as soon as these were turned off car surged and stalled. Found ignition relay turning on and off creating the pulsing in the instrument panel warning lights and other electrical circuits such as power windows, ect. If turn signals were turned on, all instrument panel warning lights would go off. Checked instrument panel fuses and found 4 fuses for PCM, BCM, Ign. relay, ABS, Air Bag, turn signals and cluster with no power. Traced power outage to pink wire coming out of ignition switch. Power wire going to ignition switch had 12.6 volts. Replaced ignition switch and problems were solved.

Well, you should look at your warranty you had with the dealership too. If they fixed a problem and it recurs again, common sense says you should be able to take it back cuz they did not do the repairs properly. You are one of these ones that let people bully you. Your money they are stealing. If the dealer fixed something and it still happens tell them to fix it or you want to talk to someone else higher up. But then if you bought the car as is, like in Texas, you are screwed. So too many things you did not say. If you paid for repairs then talk to the lawyer if they took the money and do not want to REFIX the problem.

Anyway, here is the guide from Auto Zone on your vehicle. Also check the tech bulletins cuz they have a lot and maybe you can see something that the mechanic does not know about. There are a jillion bulletins and if you can pinpoint it for them then maybe they can fix it.

98 buick regal gs with similar issues using turn signal left causes RPMs to shoot up turning right causes car to stall an die lights would come on after about 2miles go off return thats when car dies out again or pulling to light at complete stop pressing brake causes car to stall also i can hear a faint click around top of dash

i own a repair shop,and i think what everyone has looked over here is a bad ground wire on it somewhere,it may take a while to find but i had a similar incident with a similar car,an worked on it for a week before i actually found the problem,it had a couple of bad ground wires on it,and the car was grounding through what ever wire it could find to run to ground to,anything that was turned on in the car became a ground for the main electrical system,and this caused a lot of head aches with it,3 months worth for the owner,but id start checking all of this,id bet that's whats causing it to do this,good luck i hope this helps.

SHORT in electrical system! You have a hot lead grounding out probably in the signal circuit! You either have to take it to a shop that does electrical work or get an ohm meter and start checking circuits until you find it!

normally I would say, there are altornator issues, but after looking at all the writing here, I would say, have a specialist do a complete check of the on board computer

sounds like the alternator is shorting out.it could be in the computer also.
