I've lived in Phoenix for 20 years, I have seen 3 scorpions, masses of black widow spiders...don't bother them, they won't bother you, and I've yet to see a rattlesnake except inside a cage at the Phoenix Zoo. Enjoy yourself...the biggest danger is the sun, so take lots of sunscreen, drink lots of water and if you're going to drink alcohol...stay out of the sun.

No - there are dangers to any place in the US. I grew up in Minneapolis and we had centipedes in the basement - that was the most disgusting thing I have ever seen. Lived in NYC for 6 years and saw cockroaches that flew. I am now in Scottsdale, AZ and have seen one rattlesnake, and it was creepy. My nephew was stung by a scorpion and that was bad, but he is okay. It is rare...just stay out of the desert areas. The sun is your worst nightmare here. I stayed out one day drinking beers by the pool all day one time with no sunscreen and my eyes closed shut from swelling!

Are you planning to stay in a tent? If not, I don't think there's much to worry about; if so, you might want to spray the oustide of it and make sure snakes can't get in.

PUH-Lease...unless you are going to be out in the desert, dont worry about it.
Quit watching so much TV

You might want to bring some good sunblock, though.
