Yes you can. Make sure the sub floor is very very clean they will stick and stay stuck. If you are on a tight budget they are fine. Obviously ceramic tile is nicer but if it is not in your budget, the self stick tiles aren't bad.

Yes you can use self adhesive tiles. You should however remove the old floor covering including the underlayment and replace both the underlayment and the tiles for a better installation. Suggest using 1/2" hard particle board. It should be nailed every six inches on the edges and 10 inches in the field, Suggest using galvanized 5 penny box nails. Make sure the nail heads are flat with the surface,{not sticking above the underlayment. After this use a floor leveling compound on any joints. Make smooth {sand if needed} Seal the surface with a good water proofing sealer [primer] let dry overnight and install tiles. I suggest running a bead of caulking along the front of the tub/shower and around the toilet after it is reinstalled. This prevents moisture from entering the joint and under the toilet.

I just put down peel & stick in my bath. I pulled up the carpet, removed the tack strips & staples, cleaned the subfloor well & used a sheet linoleum adhesive to make sure they didn't come up. I bought a qt. of armstrong brand adhesive & used a med. width putty knife to spread it on a section of floor at a time, then placed the tiles on it. Press down well, or use a rolling pin to make sure they're down firmly, especially the edges & it should be fine. I haven't had any problems with it yet.

The ONLY good use for self stick tiles is to make a floor look acceptable enough to sell or rent the place. Otherwise, they are just garbage.

There is a coating or primer you can you to improve on tile adhesion. Available at flooring stores and large home improvement stores like Lowes or Home Depot.

A small amount of WD-40 on a white towel or paper towel has always worked for me. It is unlikely you will get out that easy though. It may be best to remove the adhesive, lightly sand, and then apply a new coat of polyurethane sealant.
