You can stop a turntable spinning with your hand with no problems. Try doing that with a record player and you'll burn out the motor.

If you say you have a turntable, you're cool and probably class yourself as a bit of DJ, you're mixing it and your name is probably something like Moby. If you have a record player, you are old and your vinyl collection consists of the New Seekers Greatest Hits and Living Doll by Cliff Richard. Otherwise, there is no real difference at all! :)

There's no difference, its just that a record playes is what you have at a house and turntables are what Dj's use at a party or to make music or beats.

There is absolutely no difference whatsoever, but, if you were to ask a teenager what a record player was they would probably look at you as if you were stupid!! They call them turntables or decks (record decks) and they are not used to simply play L.P's or singles any more. They are used to mix tracks, scratch tracks, etc, etc.

turntable just spins discs around and needs other auxillary pieces of equipemnt to send the signals from the stylus to to produce sound - like and amplifier and speakers which you can choose to suit your budget - level of quality and volume you want - -
a record player would be a complete unit with a speaker built in - a bit like "plug and play" in computers kit
