my only knowledge is it is a catholic celebration , which i think started in the year 500 A.D. the prots that were orange on this day are showing much displeasure to put it mildly so I'm sure some one, some where is drinking orange beer.

The ones in N. Ireland that fought for their land should drink Orange beer. The orangemen were not Catholic therefore they probably don't celebrate it.
