We saw the Islanders-Rangers game where that guy hit the other guy in the neck. My son asked me if anyone was ever killed.

It happened once in the Italian league. The player, Jimmy Boni, was charged and eventually pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

The closest call in the NHL was in 1969. Wayne Maki and Ted Green got into a stick fight. Maki clubbed Green in the head, and he ended up with a fractured skull and brain damage. Green had to have a steel plate put in his head. He actually came back to play in 1971.

not that I know of, but plenty of careers have been ended by stick attacks.
Mickey Redmond of the Red Wings is 1. He had back to back 50 goal seasons before a stick attack took him out of the game for good. Now he's our announcer.
Another...none other than Scotty Bowman. In junior hockey, a stick attack ended his career before it really got started. Turned out to be a blessing in disguise though. As well all know Bowman ended up the greatest coach in NHL history.

No one has ever died from being hit with a stick. There has only been 1 on-ice casualty - Bill Masterton (1968) who hit his head off the ice and never woke up from his coma.
And 1 almost-casualty when goalie Clint Malarchuk's throat was slit by another player's skate (1989).

I do believe yes to that not in the nhl. but in europe a canadian lad slashed someone in the chest made his heart pulpitate and he died of a heart attck can remember the teams nor the names of the 2 players ill try to find more info and get to this
