It may be the firewall settings. Do you have the Windows firewall enabled as well as the AVG one? Have AVG support talk you through adjusting the firewall settings.

Hi! Well First Let me Start oFf Withi This is NOT a hijacking, Hijack is when someone is remote controling Your Computer Through Theres stealing everything Which Is Worse. Theres 2 ways. 1 Is longer and requires nothing but internet connection. 2 is shorter and faster. 1) Shut Down Your Computer and start Up pressing F8 Rapidly once your to safe mode Click safe mode with networking. THIS IS WERE U CHOOSE OPTION 1 OR OPTION 2!! Option 1:Get On The Internet through There Download Maleware Bytes Avg anti virus. Option 2: Obtain A Flash drive (USB drive) and downlaod malware bytes RENAME MALWARE BYTES AS SOMTHING LIKE. Rainbow.exe DO NOT INCLUDE WORDS LIKE STOP,VIRUS,Malware or anything related to this because it will automatically block this attempt sensing you might be getting rid of it so CHANGE THE NAME AND DONT FORGET .exe 3) Run full Scan (Could take a few hours) 4)Delete anything there (it will delete for you) 5)reboot VIOLA!! Whats done is done!

I did use it with no probs, cannot remember much as I am disabled but avg might be be blocking the internet somehow, u will have to open up avg and check settings etc.
I had a prob pretty similar that was blocking my IM etc, it turned out to be my Zone alarm firewall, i must have denied acces somehow, once I alloed ccess it all worked.

Dont panic, its something silly which with someones help on here u will fix it, if my m8 comes on he will help but he is not too good. Good luck

Avg security has includes a firewall you'll probably find the firewall was blocking your internet access it just needs to be told to let you internet browser through
Just for the record no one should access the internet without using a firewall, anti-virus and anti-spyware (unless you want to be hacked)

Its the firewall of AVG, you need to setup the firewall manually after installation..... install the software and setup the firewall... I dont use AVG myself but this is the usual cause of such problems... Add your network's IP address range into the safe list of the AVG setup.... Read the manual if you are not sure how to do it...

Allow selected applications to access internet in firewall application.

If it does not work then try using fix gateway address in your network connection. Let IP address taken automatic. Hope it will work.

Cheers
