My ex has been arranged, and it is obvious that they haven't thought this through enough, she is a deeply devoted Catholic and he is not, he thinks Catholic people are eveil, he is abusive and a compulsive liar, she obviously does not know this. I just don't see this working, and his mother is extremely overbearing to the point that my ex is a momma's boy and will always put her no.1 before his spouse.

Well, the obvious is that you don't know if you have similar goals and interests with the individual (things such as children, career, and home all come to mind). Secondary to that, you are not certain on your compatability (though this can be learned/adapted to).

Actually, you can't say arranged marriages IN ISLAM, because it's not part of Islam. There's no hadith and there's nothing in the Quran that talks about arranged marriages. It's a cultural practice, and I personally don't like it, and in many cases it leads to divorce since the couple don't even get to choose each other. There's no greater advantage in it than the advantages of normal marriages, but only it has more disadvantages.

It is risky! First you have to get along nad your personalities should match together. Can you always get divorced and leave him safety just in case if he is dangerous? Try to find out more about the other person if you can because in some cultures once you say yes, you can no longer protect your self and you are the property of an other human being.DO you also love some one or woud you go for some one you can not stand living. Marriage is a very serious business. Follow your safety first

The disadvantage`s are that your husband is not your choice but somebody else`s and you may well meet the person that you should be with after your wedding, how sad would that be, in these modern time`s I am astonished that young people still agree to these marriage`s, surely it is your life and your choice who you are with.
Chris.

The main thing is that you had no control over choosing your spouse. Seriously?
