I am an American high school student, junior year, and am interested in studying medicine. Aside from looking at schools in the US, I am also looking at McGill, but I am confused about their system. Do I apply to the Faculty of Medicine as an undergraduate? If so, what program do I enroll in? And what requirements are there? I heard that I would have to take the MCAT, but I don't even have any classes in high school that prepare me for that. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

At McGill University you apply to faculties for undergrad, so yes you would apply to the faculty of medicine, any program through the faculty of medicine can apply to the med school. I'm pretty sure you dont need to take the MCATs for the faculty of medicine undergrad, MCATs are for applying to med school after undergrad. They usually give a fair amount of favor for Americans because they like the diverse campus idea and the majority at McGill is usually canadian and french.

Hope it helped, Good luck

McGill is in Montreal, Province of Quebec....Canada. As with all medical schools in Canada....there are FAR more applicants than there are seats in the course. The average is about 200 applicants for every seat. Most applicants have at least a BSc ... some have an MSc. You apply to the Faculty of Medicine for admission....but if you don't have a valid degree in one of the biosciences your chances of being accepted are nil.

I know a lot of people who went to McGill and enjoyed it. Plus, McGill has lower tuition rates than most American colleges, so that's always great. My suggestion to you is book a campus tour, do your research and try to find out if McGill is right for you. Good luck!
