Check out this forum for great advice on building a rig. If you can't glean the info you want, they are more than helpful. Be prepared to include a budget and intended use.

Sounds like a good build, but i would dish out a little more for a video card. The 9600 is outdated. Also, for your motherboard, don't buy a AGP motherboard. AGP is dying and it will be really hard to upgrade graphics in the future. Also, get a motherboard with 4 Ram slots for future upgrades. There are many PCI-E graphics cards on the market that costs the same as the 9600Pro but they would smash the 9600Pro performance wise.

PS: If you use vista basic, you will not be able to use the Aero GUI, get premium. No point in having a good system running on budget software.

Your choice for video card "Graphics: SAPPHIRE 100562L-GN Radeon 9600PRO 256MB DDR AGP 4X/8X" will not work as the motherboard does not have an AGP slot. Your video card must be PCI express.

I would also recommend Corsair or OCZ rams instead of PNY.

Very important** The PSU you selected does not support PCI express either. I suggest getting with one that supports SLI as that has enough power to support multiple video cards if you want to upgrade in the future.

Use a good thermal paste (grease) between your CPU heatsink and fan. Arctic Silver 5 is good. It will keep your CPU from overheating. Don't use too much. Don't use too little. About the thickness of a credit card is all you need. Good luck. I built the machine I am using now 3 years ago and it's still going strong!

That motherboard has dual PCI-E X16 graphic card slots. A 9600 AGP card won't fit in it.
