I have received an email that has no advertising of any kind, telling me that I've won the UK national lottery to the sum of 2.7 million Great British Pounds. It has a serial # reference # name of accounts officer in a bank in scotland, which I called to see if it exisited and it did, complete with long-distance delays in conversation. I've asked them to send a specific email from a plain jane person and to quote my daughters name so I knew a person and not a machine sent it, and they did, even quoting the terms I used, and assuring me I need not worry. But the thing is for them to transfer the winnings from the uk to canada saftely, they need me to set up an account for a large sum transfer overseas, and that costs 500 pounds which works out to almost 1200 bucks canadian. It just so happens that it's tax time and i have the money but it's also the only time of year I SEE that much money. and damned if I'm going to be a sucker and lose it to a scam. I'm trying to find their line of BS

they never send automatic emails, they take 12 hours or more to reply. Is there any way to really find out for sure? The guy on the phone said it was legit but we could barely understand each other. I get lots of spam all the time, there is no "unsubscribe" thing at the bottom or anything and there's a lot of legal terms and insurance papers, and I'm supposed to sign for one check without paying anything, just show id and sign. Is there ever a real winner? I'm the classic rags to riches story if so, but since I'm rags I'm also not stupid. But I'd sure hate to find out later that I threw it all away assuming it was a load of crap. I really don't think I'd even believe it if they called me straight up and told me word for word. But I don't think I'd believe it after they gave me the damn check in my hands if you know what I mean. NOthing good ever happened before why the hell would it start now?
