My computer lost its sound because it was accidently deleted. My speakers are built in the tower. If I got actual speakers for my computer, would the sound be back, or do I need to reinstall the sound? Thanks!

I have a 2004 Dell desktop, that is all I know. :) I think I have a CD for reinstallation, but I can't seem to find it. Thanks!

Thank you, Jeni K, but that has already been tried. Does this mean my computer's sound is unrestorable?

just reinstall your sound drivers.

You probably just need to go to your control panel and open up the Add Hardware option and follow the prompts to re-install your sound card drivers. Rebooting your computer might also cause your system to re-detect and install the drivers for your sound card. I doubt you will need to do anything more complicated.

The speakers only receive sound .... they are not the source.
What you need to do is re-install the drivers for your sound card ... which feeds sound to the speakers.

Please tell us what model PC or sound card you have & we will help you locate the correct drivers as well as instruct you on how to install them.

*** EDIT:
Please find the CD or tell us exactly what model you have.

you can go click on start, click on programs, click on accessories, then click on system restore and pick a date to go back to when you had your speakers working.
