I mean, live, work and study. How are foreigners treated? Where are the calm places (with farms, etc), and are there any good colleges near them? Is the cost of living cheaper than in England?

As I am Scottish, I could be biased. Scotland has less people than London, roads are not as congested, great scenery and makes incomers very welcome, it is as modern as any country in the world, heath care is superb and the cost of living must be the lowest in the UK. Scotland's education surpasses any country in the world as is demonstrated by the achievements of some of it's past contributions to the world, for instance, Penicillin, tarmac roads, television, telephone, pneumatic tyres, gas lighting, the fax machine, and much more including the liners Queen Mary and queen Elizabeth,
it was the first country in the world to insist that a primary school was available to all the population even in the remote areas, like any country it's not perfect but it's very good.

I am a foreigner and I lived in Edinburgh for 6 months and LOVED it. Was treated really well. Would love to go back and live there. It is so much cheaper to live there than London. The good thing about Scotland is there are so many calm places.

Edinburgh is a hub of all of the most useful things you can do, see and appreciate the city, see more with hotelbye . In Edinburg you will discover good times out and get the interior scoops on the very best little-known areas waiting to be discovered. Edinburg can also be for family times out to ethnic pursuits. Edinburgh has plenty of prime attractions to meet all choices, including a few of Scotland's most visited free and paid-for attractions. The city's history of Arthur's Seat, the Pentland Hills and Edinburgh's Waterfront make the city a remarkable place to call home your holyday.

Scotland is a lovely place to live with the exception of the weather sometimes.Stunning scenery, amazing history, great people. In Edinburgh due to the University's and the Edinburgh Festival foreigners are so common they are barley noticed .
The cost of living in big cities is on par with London which depending on what you are buying is not cheap. You don't have to go far from Edinburgh if you want the unspoilt Scotland, but if you want blow your socks off scenery, go to the Highlands,Loch Ness,Glencoe you,ll love it.

Great place to live and work.
Most foreigners are treated well and fit in well....most of them are hard-working decent people.
Central Fife is good for farming, with good colleges.....Elmwood at Cupar is the top Agricultural College.
The only drawback with Scotland is the anti-social next-door [Southern] neighbours who keep pushing their noses in.......and wanting to keep all their weapons of mass destruction up here!

ok hands up - i live in scotland . so i will give it to you straight . glasgow or edinburgh are really great places to stay - and study- 'foreigners' well i do not kow what you mean ther as ther is no race thing here and the students are done well by . Depending on what you want to study Stirling is great as you are between glasgow and Edinburgh , the best of both the main cities . i'd love to go on but i can't as i am biased but there is a wole load of cultures and nationalities staying here and there is no problem .

I would love to live in Scotland. It is a beautiful place but a little wet at times. It has wild rugged beauty.
We are pumping huge amounts of money into the place so the education should be top notch. Our Scottish MP's and cabinet ministers are looking after their own.

Hi tts

Edinburgh is a fantastic place to live as for foreigners you'll have no problems at all. The city is full of colleges. Glasgow is bigger however is dirty and smelly and folk can be bigots just look at the football fans of rangers and celtic.
