Pretty much-worst case a bit of trial and error. I have just successfully installed the same grpahics card in the ATO slot of a HP523n. I went to the Hp website and got the installation instructions for installing an AGP video card.
They recommended disabling the onboard graphics first by booting into the bios and under the "advanced" menu there shoould be a way to toggle between onboard and AGP/PCI graphics card- My bios graphics choices did not include this.

So I had to go to windows (XP) start--->settings --->system----hardware--->arrow down to the video card and uninstall it.

-power down the pc
-install your graphics card in the appropriate slot
-close everything up
-turn on the pc
-insert the disk that came with the graphics card into your CD drive and follow the instructions-some self install from thee and when the drivers are finished installing (there may be advanced extra feartures you can also install now or later)
-reboot the machine and change the resolution if it is too low-on mine it booted up at 800 x 600 so in the Icon tray I noticed a graphics seting ICON and clicked it and changed settings to 1280x1048

If you encounter trouble go to your PC manufacturers (Dell, HP, ACER...whatever you have) and find your model in the support section and there should be instructions and also a way to e-mail a question to their support people if the answer yoou need is not online.
Good Luck

It will work, all you have to do is go into the BIOS and disable integrated video. Before you upgrade, make sure you meet the system requirements for the card (PSU, AGP or PCI-E, etc). Remember to also uninstall the ATI drivers from your system too to prevent compatibility issues.

The video card instructions will also provide you steps into installing it if u have integrated video

both manufactures have there own flaws.....Ati replaced into undemanding for undesirable drivers yet have began to make superb ones of overdue and Nvidia replaced into undemanding for costing an arm and a leg yet with the price on the recent GTX 460 you cant truly ***** about the costs...... I actually have run playing cards from both manufactures and prefer both....The 9600gt is susceptible card in to days international of gaming...The GTX 260 and the Radeon 4850,that are old playing cards now smoke the 9600gt and there are distinct many more beneficial that do...... lengthy tale short: its only a count number of decision....I keep on with ATI for on the prompt completely for the costs...Im easily wondering about getting a GTX 460 now because its in my funds..... Its a decision issue and what type of funds you've....ATI or Nvidia are both tremendous manufactures of video playing cards... Scott

You have to go to the control panel and remove your integrated ATI graphics card. Then you can put the new graphics card in if it is compatible.
