I have this wonderful idea for a book and i've run it past some of my friends or family but i need some hard core answers from people not afraid to rip me to shreds with insults and real opinions.
This girl beomes the messiah of the world and the devil wants her and so does god but she just wants to be with her family. sooooo then this dude convinces her to go on the quest to save the world(part of which is in hell) and on the way they fall in love and in the end he dies.
what do you think??

due to people'e answer's i've added this. her mom has cancer(which i can relate to b/c so did mine) and thats why she wants to stay with her family, also she feels that god doesn't deserve her help because he let her mom get sick.

Wow that's really a mouthful! The only way you can really know if the idea has any merit is to start 1) Producing a detailed outline and 2)Fleshing out the characters. Some authors outline and some do not (I don't) but in this case it would seem to me that an outline would be essential. What exactly are they going to do to save the world? Keep refining and expanding the idea ... C.

Personally, I think the story needs to be tragic. Like, she shouldn't just have a perfect life with a family and evreything. Maybe she lives with a single mother or something. And the love thing is really predictable, plus the love interest is her teacher apparently and those two litterary characters don't mix well.

sounds good, but there needs to be more than just wanting to be with her family that is holding her back perhaps something happened in her in the past or to someone she once loved or cared for such as a childhood friend. the quest going through hell is a good idea, not sure about the idea where he dies though very tragic...ask yourself if you want the book to be a fell good book because if yes than he can't die

Its been done before, but with variations, like the movie Dogma and another one i dont remember the name of it. Obviously there are some differences, but if you are a really good writer, you can make it work without seeming like you copied someone elses work. If you put some good moral messages in the book, i think you could really do well selling it to the christian community, but as to the public in general, I doubt it will be a bestseller.

Good luck to you though, I hope you can make a go of it. :)
