depends on if you are expecting anything on your honeymoon

Not if you had your mind set on a specific amount and she is upping it on you because she "needs" a bigger diamond. I know women like this and it's perfectly ok to have them help pay for it if they don't want to accept what you were getting. To me, the engagement ring is what the man picks out for the woman and gives her. The people who want more, should be helping to pay for it.
If it's just because you dont want to pay for a ring period, then yeah, it's definitely wrong.

It all depends on how your relationship is. Do you ask her to pay half of her meal when you go out to dinner? I mean if she is an ultra-women's libber and you know that she wants to go into everything half way---then go for it. I would definitely talk about it first and say---"A friend of mine is asking his g/f to pay 1/2 of her engagement ring what do you think of that?" whatever her response you should follow with "Yeah, I totally agree." There is where your answer lies.

Are you crazy! This is not the way to start a relationship, especially a long relationship by going dutch treat on a engagement ring. You better do some soul searching on your intention here,do you want to take this women to be your wife,or your loan company.

You should ask her to pay half if she asks for a ring that's twice as much as the one you picked out.

It depends on what she wants, if you tell her what you can afford and she still wants more then yes. If you can't afford it and she knows that you want to be engaged then ask her true and honest thoughts about it. If you can afford it and you just want to be cheap then you need to save money so that you can.

Dont they have a dollar store where u live?
Better yet, put it on a credit card and pay only the minimum payment. If things dont work out cancel the card.
