not really experienced that first hand.
but i do believe that part of it makes sense: you know how sometimes someone may not feel what the other person is feeling. therefore one may have to use these words. they may not be at the right time in their lives to feel close to that very person, or simply, although that person is lovely , they may not be what they need/ were looking for.
