I'm almost 15 years old and can only see certain PG-13 movies. My mom says that since I am mature I can see whatever PG-13 movies I want and because I am almost 15. My dad, on the other hand, will not let me watch most without him watching them first! I've tried to talk to him, but he always says no. And as of late he won't even watch them, it is no, period. How fair is that?? Two moives I want to see extremely bad, Accepted and Man of the Year, he said I couldn't watch and he won't even watch them first. He's turning me into a rebel!! I'm serious, I watched a good bit of Borat (turning my eyes when my girl friends (18 and 19 years old) told me to, of course) on a hockey weekend. Just tell me that what he is doing is unfair! Just wait until we move and I get friends that live near and we can rent movies on our own. I'm so tired of this, I thought when I turned 13 I would at least be allowed to watch most of them. He won't even let me rent a musical that is PG-13!! Help!

Hee-hee, you crazy 15 year olds.

Okay, honey- i'm 23, and i've been where you've been.

don't waste so much time complaining about what is fair or that you want to rebel.

just listen to your parents. They care about you. I mean, they just want to protect you, what is so horrible about that?

just wait 3 more years and you can watch whatever you want.

silly 15 year olds.

"I'm 15! You can't tell me what to do! not fair! you don't understand me!"

That must suck! I'm 15 and I have so much freedom in watching movies. I'm not restricted to anything. My mom doesn't even pay attention to ratings, and I would say that I am pretty mature and have been exposed to a lot so an R-rated movie doesn't have a negative impact on me. What your dad is doing is completely unfair. Accepted wasn't even a mildly inappropiate film. If I was you I would stick it to my dad and watch whatever the heck I want. Especially when your 15, and your being banned from watching PG-13! That's ridiculous! That rating was made so that parents of 13 year olds would know that it may be inappropiate for their child. Not 15 year olds!

Well anyways, I wish you the best of luck with your situation.

Well there's not much you can do really. But you are old enough to watch PG-13 movies. You could try talking to him when hes in a good mood, or have your mom talk to him considering she says you can watch them and he says you cant. I would call that a lack of communication, they sould talk and figure out whats what and what movies they are BOTH going to allow you to watch.

wow, that really stinks!! im only 12 and im allowed to watch r rated movies. he is totally doing something wrong, but also, he is trying to do something right . he is trying to get you to stay mature from watching those immature movies. take it from me. still he is taking away ur rights from saying that u cant watch them because ur legally allowed to watch them so if i were u i would go up to him and say, dad, i want to watch pg-13 movies . i want to watch them without ur saying ok. i want to watch them without having to have u watch them. i need my freedom. i am 15 yrs old, and i think i am beyond old enough" and etc. on and on

i hope this lecture helps u.

good luck

ps. accepted looks like a really good movie and i recommend u to watch man of the house and man on the moon. theyre really good!!(rated pg13)

It is unfair....I could watch whatever I wanted....my parents even took me to see rated R stuff. Man of the Year wasn't that great...funny though. I haven't seen Accepted though. Sorry for the tough luck.

Try talking with your parents. What's called PG-13 now used to be called R when I was your age.

wow this sucks...i'm aloud to watch a ton of rated r movies. well i think the best thing to do is try to get your parents to see that all your other friends can watch pg13 movies. do you have a really good friend who your parents always tell you to be like her? show them that watching pg13 movies doesnt affect you in anyway

Why are you so obsessed with needing to see those movies? Is that all you do; sit in front of your T.V. and watch movies?
