Croa, I'm not personally labelling people. This are the different types of feminists from Wikipedia. If you don't like it, go on the website and argue with people to have it changed.

Do I need a label? Why can't I just be?
I am very definitely first wave and bought it hook line and sinker. I was brought up in what was a very traditional home. My Mom had an exciting career but when I was born she became full time Mom. Four boys later and that was it. The tight waisted dresses with the flaring skirts, the cute little hats and the sharp accessories. That was Mom when I was little. When dad died we had to teach her how to pay bills. She learned quickly. So you see traditional.
I was fed the line that she was repressed and deserved my scorn and pity. Burn your bra for freedom! I did not have my children until I was a fair bit older so they are raised in a first wave home and never knew any better. In fact they are just so busy living their lives on their own terms I don't think they bother with the term feminism at all. They are too busy working as equals with the guys in the computer and science labs..
The younger one is half into third wave... she came in on the Friends and Sex in the City level... these shows really influenced her belief system... The older was too busy studying and playing soccer to care about such silly stuff...
So how do I label myself? A Muslim woman who has been through all of this and a lifetime of other things. All three of us, my daughters and Ihave been eco feminists and have stood on the line in actions... all 3 of us have been arrested for our stand.. ok... sheesh.. I hate labels LOL...
cultural eco individualist islamic Liberal Radical spiritual and religious anti-poverty gender-equality feminist
The last is very important and I think I just invented it LOL.
It is the feminism that insist men and women are equal on all levels but the obvious. The two are completely complementary however and that is as it should be. This does not mean roles are rigid but it means there are more viable options for all of us if we open up to them.
Men and women were parted by propaganda. It is still done today only now more blatantly. We have to see past that.So I believe we should be together only of a more sensitive nature towards each other. The greatest act of revolution today is to make happy funcional families. That is why I don't like labels. They tend to hem you in.
Might I add, I think the wikkepedia stuff on feminism is slanted and not the complete truth It quotes friedan and steinam as great feminists when it isknown now that they were CIA communist agents put in there to sow seeds of destruction

Like Barbara, I reject labels. They are too confining.
I have outlined *some* of my beliefs - if you feel they fit a certain label that helps you for discussion purposes, you may categorize me, but I reserve the right to reject your choice of label.
I believe men and women are equal but not identical. Kind of like 2+3 =5 and 1+4 =5. Equal but not identical.
I acknowledge the biological differences between male and female.
I acknowledge a set of traditional gender roles, but I not feel obliged to practice them.
I believe women (and men) should be valued for their positive contributions to society, whatever they may be. No person should be prohibited from pursuing a job or public office on the basis of gender or sex.
Because of the historical oppression of women prior to the 20th century, I believe in vigilantly upholding the achievements of the first wave of feminism.
I believe these rights can be maintained without demeaning men.
I believe that there are still a significant number of men who espouse attitudes and beliefs that are demeaning and oppressive to women. I do not tolerate such attitudes.

i'd want to work out women human beings in fee, taking the lead in a destiny society. it truly works any incorrect way round: no problem at the same time as women human beings are heads of their relatives, being the major breadwinners and their adult men staying at homestead, doing the relatives and raising the youngsters, taking the spouse´s very last call in the marriage. Does all this recommend that adult men may be suppressed in that style of matriarchy ? - If this continues to be a loving and worrying society i'm no longer afraid of it.

Well, it would appear that my sub-type of feminism was not listed:
Second Wave Urea Feminism.
We believe that women's "problems" with incontinence and the associated (minor amount of) pee in our drawers is a natural womanly gift to be cherished, which epitomizes the patriarchy's attacks on all things truly female, in this case, simply because they don't approve of the scent of urine.
As such we have our slogan, "My Urine My Self", where we perform home drug tests on our urine daily to determine if our urine is free from any untoward chemicals, such as Rohypnol which might indicate that we had been raped.
Unfortunately, my daily urine drug tests indicate a strong presence of gbh, rohypnol and crack cocaine which are evidence I am raped throughout the day on a fairly regular basis.
A lot of cranks don't like these in actual fact very serious ideas, and/or mock them, but we win through the wonders of substantive equality (we are equal or better yet superior even if decidedly inferior).

Definately 2nd wave . . .as far as subtype I don't think I fit under any one category. As a feminist I agree with mostly all of them and personally work towards a few.

Whoever came up with that baloney on wikipedia doesn't know a thing about feminism and instead has made up his/her version that has nothing to do with reality.

mr q - Intelligently put!
EDIT: A bunch of thumbs down for me right? Someone please explain how it's not contradictory to willingly label yourself as one thing, and then say you reject labels? Are those who gave me thumbs down retarded? It seems that no one here thinks at all, they just disagree as soon as you don't kiss certain peoples a*sses.
