This is not about whether gays in the military is right or wrong. This is about who should make this decision. My personal feeling is that this decision should be made by the top military commanders who have lived in this system. No one who has not worn the uniform and lived in the military barracks system is qualified to make this decision for the soldiers. This is not about civil rights, this is about what's best for our military and the security of our nation.

BarB: You didn't even fully read or come close to answering the question. This not is not about peoples rights. It is about what is best for our military and our national defense. People don't consider being black as immoral. People don't consider being a woman as immoral. However a lot of people do consider homosexual acts as immoral. You cannot order people to do what they think would be lowering thier moral standards. Soldiers also should not be forced to share a room with someone they believe is living an immoral lifestyle and may infinge on thier privacy. Do you think a straight woman in the military would be willing to share her room and shower with a man? I seriuosly doubt it.

It should be up to the generals or the joint chiefs. The military should make that kind of decision. Politicians who have never served in the military should not decided military policy.

It simply doesn't matter and shouldn't even be an issue. Gay and lesbian people are a reality and work in all areas in our country; live in our neighborhoods, serve you in restaurants and fully participate in America.

Whether a person is gay or straight, the job of a soldier is to follow orders and fight for YOUR freedom if required.

They used to say Blacks couldn't serve, women couldn't serve, Hispanics couldn't serve. Our country is slowly growing up and now is the time to knock of the crapola in our military. They waiver enlistees who have criminal records and have served time for serious crime.... Who would you rather have by your side on the battlefield?
